Technical Sessions


The Coordinated Mechanical Associations (CMA) and American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-Way Association (AREMA) will be hosting technical sessions to educate attendees on new technologies in the rail industry. Attendees will hear from industry leaders on a variety of topics.

The CMAs include the Air Brake Association, Inc. (ABA), the International Association of Railway Operating Officers (IAROO), the Locomotive Maintenance Officers Association (LMOA), and Mechanical Association Railcar Technical Services (MARTS). Full CMA schedules can be found below.

The CMA and AREMA Technical sessions will be held at the Minneapolis Convention Center. The program schedules can be found below and will be held during normal indoor exhibition hours.

CMA Registration Process

Members of the Coordinated Mechanical Associations (CMA) and those wanting to attend their technical sessions can register online or through a faxable form. Attendee registration for Railway Interchange 2011 is being coordinated by American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-Way Association (AREMA).

There is a specific CMA Conference Registration link to register for the technical session and the exhibition. View Registration Hints. When you register choose your technical association as your specific association affiliation.. The technical session registration fee is $250 and the exhibition fee is $250. Total fees to attend the CMA technical sessions and tour the exhibits should not exceed $500.

Technical Sessions & Exhibits: If you would like to attend the technical sessions and visit the exhibits, you must first register for the CMA and then go to exhibit only registration block and click on exhibiting member employee.

Technical Sessions & Railroad Employee/ Government Category: Those eligible under the railroad employee/government category can attend the exhibits for free, but those wanting attend the technical programs will need to register online separately under the "CMA Technical Conference" and pay a fee of $250.00. Through this there will be an option to register for the exhibits free of charge.

Submitting a Technical Paper

If you are interested in submitting a technical paper for consideration for one of Coordinated Mechanical Associations (CMA) technical sessions, please contact the CMA directly. You can submit a summary of the paper to one or all of the CMA. They will review your paper and summary and get back to you. NOTE: The American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-Way Association (AREMA) has concluded their process for submitting technical papers in 2011.
